OUR KIDS, OUR COMMUNITY

A portion of the proceeds generated from the 2007 Decorators’ Show House and Garden Walk will be dedicated to the campaign, Our Kids, Our Community. In collaboration with Wishard Health Services, Riley Hospital for Children, Riley Children’s Foundation, IU Medical Group-Primary Care and the Indiana University School of Medicine, the Wishard Memorial Foundation is embarking upon this campaign to create an endowment for pediatrics at Wishard. At present, there is no dedicated fund that ensures medical care for the children who come to Wishard.
The income generated from the Our Kids, Our Community endowment will be used in three specific areas: Provision of a medical home, Adolescent Health/Medicine and Children who are victims of sexual and physical abuse and neglect. Much of the funding for these programs is currently generated from grant revenue. However, that funding is insufficient to cover all the needs and is not guaranteed. The Our Kids, Our Community campaign begins an effort to ensure that funds will always be available to underwrite these important programs.
As the only public hospital in the community, Wishard’s primary mission is to provide comprehensive health care to our community’s most vulnerable population. Wishard’s mission of caring for all segments of the population is a core responsibility and is understood and embraced by the physicians, staff and volunteers at Wishard. Recognition of and commitment to that mission permeate the Wishard community and family. The Our Kids, Our Community Campaign will focus community attention on the needy children served by Wishard Health Services.
